BBSI is seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper to oversee the company's day-to-day accounting operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing financial reports, supporting payroll, and assisting with month-end, year-end, and tax processes.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, proficient in QuickBooks Online, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while working both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions.
- Maintain the general ledger, journal entries, invoices, receipts, and payment records.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and on time.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare month-end and year-end financial close activities.
- Generate and analyze financial reports, including:
- Profit & Loss Statements
- Balance Sheets
- Cash Flow Statements
- Prepare and file sales tax returns and assist with year-end tax preparation and audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
- Provide bookkeeping support for the Centralized Accounts Department and serve as the QuickBooks subject matter expert.
- Track, report, and bill customer special events.
- Verify monthly sales totals, sales history, and cash receipt journals while coordinating financial close activities with the Controller.
- Communicate with customers regarding financial reviews, billing, and collections.
- Provide backup support for payroll processing across 18 customer companies.
- Assist with internal and external financial audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Maintain professional communication with vendors, customers, and financial institutions.
- Perform additional accounting duties as assigned by the Controller.
QualificationsRequired
- Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5–7 years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Experience in the construction, manufacturing, or service industry preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and bookkeeping practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to review, validate, and accurately process accounting transactions with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred
- Experience with payroll processing.
- Experience with inventory accounting.
- Ability to identify solutions for non-standard accounting transactions.
- Strong reasoning skills and the ability to interpret financial reports and legal documents.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
- Frequent use of computers, calculators, scanners, and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
- Must possess sufficient vision, hearing, and communication abilities to perform essential job functions.
