GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of their supervisor and in accordance with Association policies, the Lead Teacher is responsible for coordinating daily activities in an early learning program and providing a safe and nurturing environment for early childhood-aged children. This is a year-round position that will transition to camp responsibilities during the summer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and actively participate in the daily activities of a group of children in order to engage students and monitor safety.

Serve as a role model to staff and participants and act as the on-site supervisor of the 4K Wrap Care program.

Manage all materials and supplies needed for planned activities and maintain quality of supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Develop positive relationships with the staff, families, and children while providing motivational support and guidance, including parent conferences and handling complaints in a courteous, patient manner using problem solving techniques.

Build a professional collaboration with local school district administration and staff to develop programming that aligns with district values, policies, and procedures.

Maintain participant records and other documentation in accordance with department requirements.

Ensure safety and cleanliness of learning spaces and classrooms.

Follow the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County’s emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all children, including but not limited to, communicating with supervisor regarding any emergency concerns or situations.
- Uphold the core values of the YMCA when working with people within the YMCA facilities and community.

Follow all relevant regulations from the Department of Children and Families, Young Star, or other regulatory agencies.

Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required.

Other duties as necessary and as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. and work indoors and outdoors; must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children; see and hear well enough to keep children safe; and engage in physical activity with children.
