JOB
This is a 12-month position. The instructor will work under the supervision of the Deputy Director of the Arkansas Fire Training Academy.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Specifically, the job assignment includes but is not limited to:

Conduct and supervise training sessions / teach courses according to curriculum outlines

Operate fire apparatus

Evaluate student performance
-
Perform continuous course evaluation
-
Update curriculum as required
-
Perform firefighting duties as necessary in training students
-
Attend additional classes to update training requirements as needed or required
-
Meet with fire chiefs, training officers, and other officials as required or requested
-
Prepare for classes, maintain equipment and facilities, etc.
-
Attend fire service meetings and in-service training as well as EMS events.

Attend public relations events as requested or required
-
Performs other duties as required or assigned

Perform physically as required
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to conduct training sessions / teach courses according to curriculum outlines.

Evaluate student performance.

Perform continuous course evaluation.

Update curriculum, as required.

Must be in excellent physical condition, fully capable of performing firefighting duties.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Each instructor will be assigned one or more additional duties related to the AFTA.
-
Additional duties will include, but are not limited to: class preparation, curriculum updates, equipment maintenance, student check-in, etc.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Classes are also routinely conducted during evening and weekend hours
