American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of experience and BLS, ACLS, NRP, and FHM certifications.

Labor & Delivery unit within a short-term acute care hospital
-
Day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts weekly (6:00 AM to 6:30 PM)
-
Patient population includes labor, induction, scheduled and unscheduled C-sections, C-section with salpingectomy, SROM, PPROM, hypertension, preeclampsia, antenatal patients, and triage patients
-
Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines with typical ratios of 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active labor, and up to 1:3 for triage or antepartum patients

Additional patients may be assigned during high-volume periods

Uses CADD epidural pumps, Alaris IV pumps, Phillips wired and wireless monitoring, Periwatch, Hillrom labor beds, Draeger Radiant warmers, vein light, and v-scan
-
MCH float required, including floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals

Cerner charting system used

Active IN or Compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start date

Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and FHM

Cerner charting experience required
-
Community hospital experience preferred
-
Previous charge experience preferred

Nursing degree must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation

2 supervisor references required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, and managing hemorrhage/shock situations
-
Administer medications including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
-
Perform antepartum care including NST, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage
-
Support newborn care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
-
Provide postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care and breastfeeding support
-
Care for patients with high-risk conditions such as preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, multiple gestation, and VBAC management
-
Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
