Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our dynamic eye care team. Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by taking vital signs, collecting medical history, and explaining procedures clearly.
- Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometry and tonometry devices to assist with accurate assessments.
- Assist with eye refraction tests, visual acuity measurements, and other ophthalmic patient examinations under supervision.
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) efficiently, ensuring accurate documentation of patient information, test results, and medical records.
- Support the optometrists during examinations by handling medical equipment operation and ensuring proper aseptic technique is followed.
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions, ensuring comfort, and facilitating a smooth flow of clinical appointments.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or optical practice is preferred but not required; training will be provided for specific ophthalmic procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment is a plus.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as measuring intraocular pressure (tonometry), conducting A-scan biometry, and assisting with eye refraction.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and care delivery.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic retail math skills are helpful for managing inventory or optical sales support when needed.
