Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Office Manager/Optician to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Oversee daily office operations, including appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and maintaining clinic workflows.
- Dispense eyewear, perform fittings, adjustments, and educate patients on spectacle lens options and proper eyewear use.
- Manage optical laboratory processes such as lens cutting, edging, and quality control to ensure timely delivery of eyewear.
- Assist with medical record management, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Conduct basic eye assessments including vital signs, visual acuity tests, and preliminary eye health screenings.
- Support billing procedures by coding medical services accurately, processing insurance claims, and managing medical billing tasks.
- Maintain inventory of optical supplies, frames, lenses, and laboratory equipment while ensuring adherence to health regulation policies.
- Operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently during retail sales transactions in the optical shop.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries, explaining treatment options, and fostering a positive clinic experience.
- Ensure compliance with state healthcare regulations and clinic policies related to optometric practices and patient safety.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of ophthalmology practices, optics, spectacle lens dispensing, and eyewear fittings.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, medical coding, EMR/EHR systems, and medical records management.
- Experience with laboratory procedures including lens edging, frame adjustments, and aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with retail sales processes, POS systems, retail math calculations, and customer service excellence.
- Ability to interpret medical terminology related to eye health and anatomy as well as physiology knowledge for patient assessments.
- Knowledge of health regulation policies specific to pediatrics and senior care populations.
- Proficiency in managing clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information securely.
- Excellent communication skills combined with organizational abilities to coordinate clinic activities efficiently.
- Basic math skills necessary for inventory management, billing calculations, and sales transactions.
