Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician and play a vital role in delivering exceptional animal care and support. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarian and veterinary technicians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments by preparing equipment, restraining animals, obtaining vitals and monitoring patient status
- Provide compassionate animal handling and restraint for a variety of species, including dogs, cats, equines, birds and small mammals
- Support animal husbandry duties such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and cleaning kennels or cages to maintain optimal hygiene standards
- Administer medications, perform IV insertions, catheterizations, and other basic medical procedures under supervision
- Fill prescriptions as needed as well as authorize online prescription requests
- Process lab samples using in house laboratory machines
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, medication administration, laboratory tests, and patient observations using veterinary terminology
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and communicating with pet owners effectively
SKILLS:
- Veterinary technician or assistant experience is required with knowledge of veterinary terminology and laboratory procedures (minimum two years of experience)
- Strong animal handling skills along with animal restraint expertise for safe examinations and procedures
- Proficiency in medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and pet owners while demonstrating compassion and professionalism
