Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA serving with Northern Michigan University (NMU) will help the university to launch and build program capacity for the Park-to-Pantry initiative on campus. Woodland Park is an 11-acre sustainable demonstration area on campus that includes two hoop houses (1600 square feet each) for three-season food production and community garden plots. The VISTA will help design the systems to support volunteers and educational outreach necessary to grow food and feed students on campus, thus combatting food insecurity. As a member of the NMU Sustainability Hub for Innovation & Environment team, there will be weekly meetings and a variety of opportunities for training and professional development experiences throughout the year of service.
