Duties
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations and behavioral health evaluations, to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and state regulations, ensuring safe medication management.
- Provide psychotherapy sessions utilizing evidence-based modalities tailored to patient needs, including working with children, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic care plans and facilitate seamless patient transitions across services such as inpatient, outpatient, or home care.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like RXNT for accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and medication records while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Engage in telehealth platforms to expand access to psychiatric services remotely, ensuring continuity of care for diverse populations.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or similar role within behavioral health settings; experience working with children, geriatrics, or in acute care environments is highly valued.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or Cerner; familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for diagnoses and billing purposes.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, medication administration protocols, and drug enforcement regulations (DEA).
- Critical care experience in settings like ICU or emergency room environments is preferred; experience with trauma centers or Level I/II trauma center exposure is advantageous.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques including vital signs monitoring, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluation tools such as sonography or laboratory specimen collection.
- Knowledge of healthcare laws including Workers’ Compensation law and HIPAA standards; experience in discharge planning and case management enhances your suitability.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education on mental health strategies, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
