Job Description
Chetzels Bakehouse is a brand new gluten-free bakery opening in Brentwood. We offer a range of sweet and savory goods with an international fusion twist, all made from scratch! It’s not your typical cupcakes and cookies.
We’re looking for an 18+ years old Back of the House Team Member to work part time, five days per week. Our business hours are 7am - 4pm, Tuesday through Saturday, and we are closed Sunday and Monday.
We are a retail kitchen with no sitting down service. Shift hours will be in the range of 5am - 7pm, so some very early mornings may be required. As a bakery, we will work during some important holiday seasons such as between Christmas and New Years, throughout Ramadan, Easter and Passover; or at least up to the holiday date with one day off immediately after the rush.
Some typical tasks would include:
- Preparing a variety of doughs for our signature foods
- Shaping and/or stuffing the doughs into a finished item
- Freezing and packaging raw items
- Occasionally asked to collaborate with placing finished frozen foods into the oven and controlling timing to then place the baked food item onto a cooling area for the front of the house use
- Cleaning kitchen and equipment during and at the end of your shift
- Tracking supply and ingredient inventory levels
- Taking detailed notes of recipe changes including why and/or how

Qualifications, Experience, Skills
- An interest in baking and in delicious baked foods.
- Basic commercial food prep/food service experience.
- Knowledge and ability to safely operate kitchen equipment (knives, deli slicers, alto-shaam/stove, etc.).
- Maintain clean, food-safe and prep stations throughout shifts in accordance to safety and sanitation measures.
- Adhere to kitchen safety standards and health codes.
- Be detail oriented since some of our customers can have severe allergic reactions to cross-contamination of ingredients (like nuts).
- Be comfortable with physically strenuous and repetitive tasks.
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work with a sense of urgency while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to continuously stand, walk, bend, squat, use a ladder.
- Support the kitchen and production team with daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Prepare documents for food production and maintain in detail any recipe modification, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure timely and efficient completion of tasks.
- Package and prepare food items for sale and distribution.
- Clean, sanitize and restock workstation and ensure all baking supplies are sufficiently prepared for the next shift.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Comply with all health and safety guidelines, including strict adherence to dress code and personal hygiene.
- Maintain a consistent work attendance and punctuality record.
- Speaking English is not required (only if you speak Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Italian), but you should be able to read/follow recipes in English.
