Rothman Orthopaedics is looking for an Orthotics Technician to join our Marlton team! The Orthotics Tech is a trained member of the orthopaedic team who assists with applying/removing casts, splints, and braces. No orthotics experience? No problem! Essential Duties:
- Greets patient and assists them to the orthotics room.
- Informs, prepares, and positions patient for procedure.
- Provides patient and family education on cast, brace, splint.
- Conducts clinical interview of patients and assesses needs according to Physician's prescription.
- Reads specifications to determine the type of device to be fabricated and the materials and tools that will be required.
- Applies and removes casts and splints.
- Make orthotic devices by bending, forming, and shaping materials to prescribed specifications.
- Fits, tests, and evaluates devices on patients and makes adjustments for proper fit, function, and comfort.
- Provides patient with insurance information and financial responsibility information. Completes work orders, billing, and notes for patients. Verifies benefits and completes pre-certification and documents in patient record.
- Triages patient by telephone and communicates patient's needs to certified practitioner or Physician.
- Maintains orthotics room and orders stock inventory.
- Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED minimum education requirement.
- Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office suite.
- Interest in musculoskeletal anatomy and body movement.
- Must have healthcare experience or education in healthcare, or related experience/education.
- Completed courses in Anatomy, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Physical/Occupational Therapy, and/or Athletic Training preferred, but not required.
