Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS), Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting to fill an Institution Unit Supervisor (IUS) vacancy.

This position will be assigned to work from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Some nights and weekends may be required as necessary to meet unit/institution needs. This position also serves as Administrator On-Call two to three times per year, which requires a week-long 24-7 on call period.

WRC is a secure treatment facility that specializes in treating individuals with severe mental health conditions from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Position Summary

As an IUS, you will be responsible for the administration of an assigned unit at WRC and Wisconsin Women’s Resource Center (WWRC). Duties include:

Developing, implementing, and monitoring unit programs, goals, policies, and procedures as part of the Executive Management Team.
Responsibility for the treatment, safety, security, general living conditions, and all activities within assigned units.
Coordinating and ensuring the continuity of treatment/security activities between the unit and multidisciplinary treatment programs and the security department.
Facilitating the development, implementation, and revision of treatment learning plans.
Coordinating resources to ensure resident needs are met.

You will ensure unit programs and activities are consistent with policies and procedures and comply with applicable State Statutes and Administrative Codes. You will directly supervise unit staff and work closely with department heads who supervise the clinical competencies of their disciplines.

In addition, as the IUS, you will represent the institution to all outside agencies, families, and others involved with the care and treatment of assigned residents. You will assess learning needs and facilitate education, training, and participation in growth and development activities for staff and self and also participate with the Executive Management Team in the development and implementation of an annual Operations Plan.

Salary Information

The starting pay for this position is $48.33 to $55.99 per hour (approximately $100,500 to $116,400 per year) or up to the appointment maximum at the time of the appointment, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current of former employees is based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule/range 81/34.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have all of the following:

Experience providing psychiatric care, treatment, or security to individuals with behavior disorders, mental illness, or developmental disabilities.
Experience working in a leadership or supervisory role (e.g., supervisor, lead worker, committee leader, project leader, trainer, etc.).
Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

Associate’s degree or higher in Management, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Education, or related field.
Experience leading a company/facility-wide project, program or initiative which requires collaboration among diverse disciplines and multiple partners.
Experience working with individual treatment plans to enhance personal recovery, healing and public safety.
Experience or training in quality improvement methods or measures (e.g., data collection, analysis or interpretation, etc.)
