Teachers will create engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, academic growth, and student achievement while integrating TMATs unique maritime theme through real-world applications, project-based learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Teachers are expected to foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school culture.Duties and Responsibilities Standards-Based Instruction: Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that supports Ohio graduation requirements. Diverse Teaching Strategies: Use varied instructional methods such as direct instruction, small groups, technology, and project-based learning.
Differentiated Learning: Adapt instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including special populations and advanced students. Assessment & Data Monitoring: Track student progress regularly, maintain accurate records, and adjust instruction based on performance data. Student Achievement Support: Provide tutoring, intervention, enrichment, and credit recovery opportunities to promote success. Positive Classroom Culture: Foster a respectful, engaging learning environment with effective behavior management practices.
Student & Family Engagement: Build strong relationships with students and families while supporting social-emotional growth and college/career readiness. Collaboration & School Leadership: Work professionally with staff, participate in school events, and contribute to TMATs mission-driven culture of excellence.Desired QualificationsRequired: Bachelors degree in Education or content-related field. Valid Ohio teaching license appropriate for grade level and subject area. Successful completion of Ohio BCI and FBI background checks.
Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and classroom management best practices. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Commitment to equity, student achievement, and continuous improvement.Preferred: Masters degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field. Prior teaching experience in middle school or high school settings.
Experience in charter schools, urban education, or career-technical environments. Experience with project-based learning, technology integration, or College Credit Plus (CCP). Training in PBIS, trauma-informed practices, culturally responsive teaching, or differentiated instruction. Interest in maritime, STEM, environmental, or career-connected learning.Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout classrooms and school facilities for extended periods.
Frequent computer use for planning, grading, communication, and instruction. Occasional lifting of instructional materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
