Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including restorative work, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and medical imaging while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to ensure accurate medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, managing patient comfort, taking vital signs, and addressing questions about treatment plans.
- Support patient management software systems to schedule appointments, update medical records, and facilitate smooth clinic flow.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical information and ensuring all dental equipment is properly maintained and sterilized.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry.
- Experience with dental x-ray procedures, oral surgery support, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with dental sterilization procedures, infection control standards, and healthcare infection prevention practices.
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, and other clinical tools efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with dentists, hygienists, patients, and the reception team including dental receptionist duties when needed.
- Knowledge of medical coding and medical documentation practices to ensure accurate billing and recordkeeping.
