Duties
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Facilitate patient transfers using manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts to ensure safety for both patient and caregiver
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments, including behavioral health support and memory care strategies
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy preparation, and aseptic techniques in accordance with clinical protocols
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA standards and ensuring accurate medical documentation across electronic health records (EHR/Epic systems)
Requirements
- Valid CNA certification recognized by the state or licensing authority
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (CPR) certification
- Prior experience in long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), hospice or home care environments preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper lifting practices and manual handling techniques
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation
- Excellent communication skills for caregiving roles and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques to prevent disease transmission
