Lighting Division Overview
Momentum Group Lighting Division Overview
The Lighting Division is a key business unit within Momentum Group, encompassing Lighting Design, Fixtures Specifications, and Quotes. It is anchored by a centralized Lighting Design and AV Services team that is strategically positioned to drive specification, differentiation, and revenue.
Strategic Focus
The division's core strategy is to position lighting design as a revenue-generating service and a core differentiator for the company. It is designed to operate as a self-sustaining business unit with clear scope, pricing, performance metrics, and accountability. Success is measured by design quality, design revenue, specification performance, integrator adoption and division profitability.
Role Description – Junior Lighting Designer & Quotations Coordinator
The Junior Lighting Designer & Quotations Coordinator is an entry-level, full-time role within Momentum’s Lighting and AV Services division. This position is designed for a candidate with a genuine passion for lighting design and an eagerness to grow into a full-time Lighting Designer.
In this role, you will work directly under the VP of Lighting and Design Services, supporting residential lighting projects while owning the day-to-day quotation workflow. As you build proficiency with Momentum’s systems, software, and product lines, you will take on progressively greater design responsibility—with a clear path toward a full Lighting Designer role.
This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and excited by the opportunity to grow within a sales oriented and high-growth organization. Cultural fit is everything at Momentum—the right candidate will bring energy, ownership, and a collaborative mindset from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Quotations & Project Support
- Own the preparation, management, and delivery of lighting fixture quotations for residential projects.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all quotes, cross-referencing specifications, product data, and project scope.
- Maintain organized records of all quotes, revisions, and project documentation within company systems.
- Coordinate with the design team and sales reps to ensure timely quote turnaround and follow-up.
- Utilize industry-standard quoting and documentation software; training will be provided on Momentum’s tools.
Residential Lighting Design (Learning & Growth)
- Assist the VP of Lighting and Design and the design team members in producing lighting layouts and specifications for residential projects.
- Develop foundational knowledge of high-end lighting fixtures, particularly in the luxury residential market.
- Learn and apply industry-standard design, rendering, and documentation tools under direct mentorship.
- Support the preparation of client-facing design presentations and project visuals.
- Progressively take on independent design responsibilities as skills and system knowledge develop.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the VP of Lighting and Design, outside sales reps, and integrators (Momentum’s clients) to support project flow.
- Participate in scope calls and project check-ins as needed to stay aligned on design intent and budget.
- Assist with sales support functions as directed.
- Represent Momentum professionally in all client and partner interactions.
Core Functions
This role supports the division’s primary functions, including:
- Quotation Management: Owns the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely lighting fixture quotes for residential projects, ensuring quality from specification through final pricing.
- Design Support & Learning: Assists the VP of Lighting and Design and design team in producing residential lighting layouts, specifications, and client-ready presentations, with the goal of developing into an independent designer.
- Integrator & Sales Collaboration: Supports coordination with integrators and internal sales teams by providing accurate quote data and project documentation to keep deals moving forward.
- Accuracy & Quality Control: Follows established QC standards for all quotes and design deliverables, flagging errors, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Shared Services Support: Contributes to scalable, high-quality design and quoting support for Momentum’s affiliated rep firms as volume and capacity allow.
Indicators of Success
Quotation Accuracy & Turnaround
Consistently produce accurate, complete quotes on time. Reduce revision cycles through attention to detail and proactive communication with the design and sales teams. Build a reputation internally as a reliable resource for fast, error-minimized quoting.
Design Skill Development
Demonstrate measurable growth in lighting design proficiency over time—mastering Momentum’s tools, developing product knowledge in the luxury residential space, and taking on increasing design responsibility with decreasing supervision.
Team & Integrator Collaboration
Build strong working relationships with the VP, sales reps, and integrators. Communicate proactively, follow through on commitments, and become a trusted contributor to the division’s day-to-day success.
Path to Full Lighting Designer
The ultimate indicator of success in this role is progression. The goal is for this candidate to grow into a full Lighting Designer—capable of independently managing residential design projects from concept through specification. The pace of that progression depends on demonstrated capability, initiative, and alignment with Momentum’s standards.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or coursework in Lighting Design, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Interest in or foundational knowledge of high-end lighting fixtures, especially in residential applications.
- Proficiency or willingness to learn industry-standard lighting design, documentation, and quoting software.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation and client deliverables.
- Outgoing, confident, and emotionally intelligent—comfortable working with clients, partners, and a sales oriented internal team.
- Organized self-starter who can manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge of the custom integration channel is a plus but not required (training will be provided).
This role is too important to succeed without full cultural alignment. The ideal candidate must match Momentum’s values, energy, and collaborative mindset. Long-term success depends on trust, ownership, adaptability, and the ability to grow alongside the company. We are investing in this person’s development—and we expect them to invest in us. That means we are looking for a true team player, and we will reciprocate
