Position Title: Machine Operator (Maintenance)
Department: Maintenance/Operations
Reports to: Warehouse Operations Manager
Job Summary: The Machine Operator Maintenance is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial machinery and equipment in a manufacturing or production environment. This role combines machine operation with preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The operator will perform routine inspections, maintenance tasks, and ensure machinery is running at optimal performance to avoid production downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation/ Maintenance:
- Operate various types of machines and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitor machine performance, adjusting settings or parameters as needed.
- Perform quality checks during production runs to ensure product standards are met.
- Follow safety guidelines and operational procedures while working on the machines.
- Ensure the machines are running at the required hourly rate to maintain production efficiency.
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify wear and tear, potential issues, or signs of malfunction.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and replacing parts as required.
- Maintain detailed records of machine maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and in good working condition after maintenance tasks.
- Report any recurring issues or concerns to Management for further evaluation and resolution
- Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues in a timely manner to minimize machine downtime.
- Perform corrective maintenance on malfunctioning machines and equipment.
- Work closely with other maintenance technicians and supervisors to resolve complex technical issues.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and practices when operating machines and handling equipment.
- Ensure all safety devices are functional and report any safety hazards immediately.
- Machine Setup and Changeovers:
- Set up machines for new production runs, ensuring all parts and settings are correct.
- Perform changeovers between different production jobs, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal machine settings.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with all teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Assist in the training of junior operators and maintenance personnel as required.
- Collaborate with the team to schedule and execute preventive maintenance plans to minimize downtime.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate logs of machine performance, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Generate reports on machine status up time, downtime and availability, maintenance needs, and operational issues for management review.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or relevant training is a plus.
- Proven experience as a machine operator, maintenance technician, or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of machinery, tools, troubleshooting situations and equipment maintenance.
- Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and be flexible with schedule.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to stand, bend, and squat for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and the ability to operate tools and machinery.
Work Environment:
- Industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to loud noise, machinery, and possible hazardous materials.
- Shift work may be required depending on the operational schedule.
- Be capable of working in a warehouse environment that experiences varying temperature conditions, including both hot and cold weather.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
