About Bridgton School House
Bridgton School House is a new micro-school opening in Bridgton, Maine. We are seeking a Montessori-trained Primary Educator (ages 3–6) who is excited to help build a school from the ground up and play an active role in shaping its culture, curriculum, and daily rhythms. Our approach is Montessori-aligned and child-centered, emphasizing hands-on learning, independence, curiosity, and strong relationships. The program allows educators flexibility to follow the child while maintaining thoughtful structure and intention. This is a foundational (“pioneer”) role for an educator who is energized by new beginnings, responsibility, and meaningful work.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate, Montessori-aligned learning experiences for children ages 3–6
- Prepare and maintain a thoughtful, well-organized learning environment
- Foster a warm, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture
- Observe, support, and document each child’s academic, social, and emotional development
- Coordinate the use of local and community-based resources to enhance learning
- Communicate clearly and consistently with families
- Support daily operations and serve as an on-site educational presence as the program develops
- Contribute to the establishment of school practices, routines, and culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field
- At least three years of teaching experience with early childhood or mixed-age groups
- Formal Montessori training or certification (required)
- Experience working within child-centered or emergent learning models
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Comfort working independently in a small-school environment
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and developmentally appropriate learning environment
(Affiliation with a specific Montessori organization is not required.)
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation is commensurate with experience, training, and responsibilities
- Salary may vary based on years of experience, depth of Montessori training, and potential for expanded responsibilities
