Qualifications: 90hrs Pre-school certificate required.
Duties
- Lead and manage a classroom of 2-year-old children, implementing developmentally appropriate activities that promote growth across all domains including cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language skills
- Develop and execute engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards such as Montessori or other early childhood frameworks
- Foster positive behavior management strategies to support children's emotional regulation and social interactions
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns, ensuring transparency and collaboration
- Maintain a safe classroom environment by adhering to health and safety regulations, including first aid and CPR certification requirements
- Document child development progress through observations, assessments, and standardized testing when applicable
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, classroom management strategies, and early intervention efforts for children with special needs or developmental delays
Skills
- Extensive experience working with young children in daycare or preschool settings, preferably with toddlers aged 2 years old
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, including toddler care and early intervention techniques
- Proficiency in curriculum development tailored for preschoolers with an emphasis on literacy education and physical activity such as early childhood physical education
- Ability to implement behavior management strategies effectively within a classroom management framework
- Excellent communication skills to engage with children, parents, staff, and community partners
- Familiarity with mandated reporting laws related to child welfare and safety protocols
- Experience integrating Montessori methods or other specialized educational approaches into daily activities
- Competency in lesson planning that incorporates math concepts, literacy skills, and sensory activities suitable for toddlers
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures used in early childhood education settings
- First aid and CPR certification to ensure immediate response to emergencies
- Demonstrated ability to foster inclusive learning environments that support children with diverse needs including special education considerations
