The Seamstress is a detail-oriented and skilled member of the production team, responsible for the final fabrication and quality control of vinyl banners. This role requires operating industrial sewing machines, electric scissors, and grommeting tools to finish large-format printed vinyl according to precise customer specifications. The ideal candidate has experience working with heavy vinyl and a commitment to producing durable, high-quality products for both indoor and outdoor use.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production and Assembly:
- Operate industrial sewing machines to create reinforced hems and pole pockets on vinyl banner material.
- Set up and operate grommeting machines to punch and secure brass or aluminum grommets evenly along the banner's edges.
- Handle and manipulate large, heavy, and flexible vinyl materials to assemble oversized banners and ensure clean, professional edges.
- Follow work orders and technical drawings precisely to ensure all finishing specifications are met, including hem size, pole pocket dimensions, and grommet placement.
Finish and Quality Control:
- Perform meticulous quality checks on all finished banners to ensure clean cuts, proper tension, and correct hardware application.
- Inspect finished banners for defects, including uneven hems, missed stitches, or flaws in the vinyl material, and perform any necessary corrections.
- Trim and clean excess material and threads from finished products to provide a polished, profes- sional appearance.
- Package and label completed banners for shipping or installation.
Equipment and Maintenance:
- Perform basic daily maintenance on finishing equipment, including industrial sewing machines and automatic grommet machine to ensure continuous and safe operation.
- Change needles, adjust tension, and perform other basic troubleshooting as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized production area to ensure a safe and efficient workflow.
