Description:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Ensures all children are appropriately chaperoned and never left unattended in all situations such as facility, transportation, playground, or community outing.

When substituting for an Aide or Bus Driver on the bus, ensures all children have evacuated the bus and checks for personal items left on the bus.

Performs all activities necessary to complete the transportation objectives stated in the Head Start Performance Standards and Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts requirements.

Contributes to the development of safety and transportation related training, the written training plan and the implementation of that plan.

Submits reports as required (PIR, CSBG, etc.)

Participates annually in developing, reviewing and revising the Program Plans.
-
Coordinates, facilitates and participates in the annual self-assessment of the safety and Transportation Components.
-
Secures necessary bids for any new purchase/lease of vehicles and completes appropriate paperwork.
-
Supervises the completion of vehicle maintenance projects.
-
Locates and develops professional relationships with vendors for the transportation department.
-
Supervises and approves all matters relating to school bus transportation operations.
-
Complies with Data Management Plan.
-
Reviews all bus runs with transportation staff
-
Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

Coordinates with Family Services Manager as needed on issues relating to bus runs.

Coordinates and oversees the center managers and their duties, including evacuation drills which encompass; fire drills, sheltering in place, relocating to another facility to shelter, lockdown drills, center inspections, and playground inspections.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transports children and parents to and from centers as needed.

Schedules 5,000 mile/3-month maintenance inspection and state inspection.

Follows the program procedures relating to confidentiality.
-
Performs day-to-day travel, as well as overnight travel as required.

Must pass initial and annual physical exam and TB screening.
-
Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
-
Participates in meetings, job related training, and continuing education programs as required or suggested by HHS and sponsoring organizations.

Notifies drivers for drug and alcohol testing on a random basis.

Mandated Child Abuse/Neglect reporter
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
-
Working knowledge of computers, including MS Word, Excel, and other related programs.
-
Demonstrated ability to direct and manage program goals and objectives.
-
Experience in conducting training programs.
-
Proficient oral and written communication skills and the ability to deal tactfully with the public
-
Ability to work independently.
-
Working knowledge of outcome-based services.
-
Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification.
-
Must pass initial and tri-annual physical exam and TB screening.

Car Seat Installation Certification
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED. (Required)
-
Current Pennsylvania CDL Driver’s License with S&P endorsements. (Required)

Demonstrated knowledge of the school bus transportation system, laws, including CDL, and training procedures. (Required)

Prior supervisory experience of at least two years. (Required)
-
Current PA Driver's License and reliable transportation. (Required)
-
Free of Child Abuse/Neglect history as verified by proper authorities prior to employment. (Required)
-
Must obtain Child Abuse, PA State Police, FBI Fingerprinting and NSOR Clearances prior to starting employment. (Required)

Must meet vaccination requirements set by funding sources. (Required)

Certified school bus driver trainer. (Preferred)
