Position Summary
Our Veterinary Assistants play a vital role in supporting our doctors and technicians while ensuring every patient receives outstanding care. This position requires excellent communication, attention to detail, compassion, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care
- Safely restrain dogs and cats during exams and treatments
- Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain hospital equipment
- Collect patient histories and accurately document information
- Perform laboratory duties including sample preparation and in-house diagnostics
- Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic procedures
- Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes to the medical team
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians or licensed technicians
- Prepare surgical patients and assist with surgical procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Stock medical supplies and keep treatment areas organized
- Educate clients on basic pet care and discharge instructions
- Work collaboratively with reception, technicians, doctors, and resort staff
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the hospital
Qualifications
- Previous veterinary experience preferred (1+ year is a plus)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of all sizes
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Dependable with strong attendance and punctuality
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
