About the Role
The Executive Chef is a full-time, salaried leadership role that oversees all kitchen operations with a focus on performance, profitability, and people development. You’ll use your experience, creativity, and communication skills to lead your team toward culinary excellence while building a culture of trust, accountability, and collaboration across the back of house.
You will be accountable for achieving budget goals, maintaining consistent cost of goods (COGs) and labor percentages, and ensuring every plate leaving the kitchen meets brand standards. Your leadership will inspire, train, and develop both seasoned and up-and-coming culinary professionals.
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation laws and regulations
- Represent HOUSEpitality Family as an industry professional in both communication and appearance
- Consistently meet or exceed target COGs and labor goals
- Oversee inventory management, ordering, and FIFO rotation
- Verify deliveries for accuracy and quality
- Hire, train, certify, and review all BOH team members
- Supervise prep, cooking, and presentation to brand standards
- Maintain and refine operational checklists, line checks, and kitchen systems
- Lead execution of private events, holiday menus, and promotions
- Hold self and team accountable to HOUSEpitality core values: Integrity, Knowledge, Empowerment, Innovation
- Provide ongoing culinary training and development for BOH employees
- Accept and implement feedback from leadership for personal and team growth
Desired Experience & Attributes
- 4+ years of culinary leadership experience, including working knowledge of all kitchen stations
- Proven ability to thrive in high-volume, high-standard environments
- Availability for major holidays and seasonal peak periods
- Experience managing large events and special menus
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong organizational, coaching, and communication skills
- A collaborative and motivational management style
- ServSafe Manager Certification (preferred)
