SUMMARY: The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting clinic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks under leadership guidance. Performing construction, renovation, remodeling, operations, maintenance, environmental safety, and grounds/equipment management to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The Facilities Maintenance Technician manages utilities, building management systems, testing, inspection, and contributing to a facility quality improvement plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain inventory of clinic owned medical equipment
- Perform periodic safety walks throughout the facility to ensure facility is well maintained and free of safety hazards
- Follow preventative maintenance schedule for periodic inspection of building grounds utility systems and department equipment to ensure good working order
- Work pro-actively to perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, mechanical, equipment, etc. as directed and in accordance with established procedures
- Document findings from inspections on Maintenance Log Cards
- Capture accurate and complete documentation of work orders
- Retrieves repair parts, shop tools and other items as specified and assists with daily operations of the facility
- Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc. to management immediately
- Perform or coordinate unscheduled maintenance tasks when deemed necessary according to regulations
- Schedule and coordinate the repair or replacement of equipment, building, grounds or utility systems
- Ensure that contractor bids and/or quotes are completed and received in a timely manner, as needed
- Develop and provide training to clinic staff regarding its safety program
- Suggest revision of systems and routines for improved operations of the department
- Assist management to create a financially responsible departmental budget
- Provide input into the development and implementation of maintenance related clinic projects
- Utilize knowledge of fiscal management when making daily operational decisions
- Maintain and protect confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care, personnel and strategic issues
- Adhere to confidentiality policy, clinic’s policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook
- Report problems that may compromise effective job performance by using appropriate chain of command
- Follow safety standards, policies and procedures established for the department and clinic and conducts all procedures accordingly
- Maintain awareness of environment and uses great caution while navigating various work areas
- Accessible 24/7 to clinic administrators unless other arrangements have been made and communicated to the appropriate staff and management
- Perform other related duties as assigned

- Ability to observe and receive training, instruction and guidance on various building operations processes

- Ability to operate hand and power tools commonly used in building maintenance
- Ability to lift and carry objects and climb ladders to various heights safely
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations, read and interpret plans, specs, and blueprints
- Ability to work independently, perform building maintenance work and manual labor
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, identify and correct safety hazards
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Possess knowledge in construction and repair procedures, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC), and related trades, with knowledge of materials, safe work practices and first aid
- Valid Driver’s License
- Certified in the following or must complete certification within 90-days of hire:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- OSHA 10
