Job Description

The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting vehicles with mechanical problems to locate the cause of the malfunction. The employee will perform repairs and preventative maintenance on vehicles as required. The mechanic will repair the brakes, air conditioning system, diagnostic engine analysis, and module analysis. The mechanic will test vehicles after repairs to ensure proper and safe operations. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor

Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a High School Diploma or GED Diploma.
Must not have been convicted of a felony.
Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving moral character, false statement, perjury, or domestic violence.
Preferred to have 2 of 8 ASE Automobile Technician certifications or at least two years of experience in the auto repair industry.
Electrical wiring and troubleshooting experience preferred.

Must have good communications skills
Must be able to work with tire changer/balancing equipment
Must be self-motivated and goal orientated
Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.

Members gain 16 hours of PTO each month.

Longevity Benefit

The Longevity Benefit awarded to members who have completed five (5) or more years of continuous service with the agency. Beginning with the 5th completed year of service, eight (8) additional hours are added to the member’s PTO balance for each year of service.

Example: A ten-year member receives 96 hours of PTO each year. An additional 48 hours of longevity pay is awarded and deposited into his/her PTO on the merit date.

Education Reimbursement

Members who attend an accredited college or university can receive compensation for completed classes. Members pursuing an undergraduate degree can receive $2,000 per fiscal year; the graduate degree can receive $3,000 per fiscal year.
