- Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement in elementary education.

- Curriculum: Knowledge of elementary curriculum standards, instructional methods, assessment practices, and district requirements.
- Development: Knowledge of the physical, social, emotional, and academic development of elementary-aged students.
- Compliance: Knowledge of applicable laws, policies, regulations, IEP requirements, student confidentiality standards, and safety procedures.
Skills
- Instruction: Skill in planning, delivering, differentiating, and evaluating instruction based on students’ learning needs and academic progress.
- Management: Skill in establishing an organized, safe, and supportive classroom environment and managing student behavior effectively.
- Communication: Skill in communicating clearly and professionally with students, families, colleagues, administrators, and community members.
Abilities
- Adaptability: Ability to modify instructional strategies, materials, and curricula to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and individual needs.
- Collaboration: Ability to work cooperatively with general education staff, special education staff, instructional support personnel, families, and volunteers.
- Organization: Ability to manage instructional responsibilities, student records, assessments, reports, meetings, extracurricular assignments, and required documentation accurately and efficiently.
