The Dietary Aide supports the Dietary Department by assisting with meal preparation, tray delivery, dining room service, sanitation, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. This role plays an important part in ensuring residents receive nutritious meals in accordance with physician orders, dietary restrictions, and facility policies, while promoting a positive dining experience.
Meal Service & Resident Support

Assist with meal preparation, portioning, plating, and tray line service

Deliver meal trays to residents’ rooms and assist with set-up as needed

Assist residents during meals as directed by nursing (within scope of role)

Ensure accurate meal delivery according to diet orders (regular, mechanical soft, puree, diabetic, renal, etc.)

Collect meal trays and ensure proper clean-up after meals
Kitchen Sanitation & Safety

Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining areas, and food service equipment

Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment according to sanitation standards

Follow proper food handling, storage, and infection control procedures

Maintain compliance with local health department regulations and facility policies

Take and record temperatures of food, refrigerators, and freezers as assigned
Inventory & Stocking

Assist with stocking food and supplies

Notify Dietary Manager of low inventory or supply needs

Properly store food according to labeling and expiration guidelines
Compliance & Teamwork

Follow CMS, state, and facility dietary regulations

Comply with infection control, PPE, and safety protocols

Work collaboratively with nursing and dietary staff to meet resident needs

Participate in in-services and required trainings
