Speech-Language Pathologist/Auditory-Verbal Therapist: Katherine Hamm Center – PRN (as needed)
Speech-Language Pathologist will provide high quality therapeutic Auditory-Verbal Therapy to families who have a child who is deaf or hard of hearing. Sessions will be conducted using Auditory-Verbal principles to develop communication and literacy skills. Therapy will take place in a school setting, or virtually, with child and a caregiver. SLP is responsible for evaluating, identifying appropriate goals, providing experiences to meet those goals, and reporting goals and progress to members of child’s team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE JOB:
Conduct formal speech and language evaluations every 6 months
Conduct ongoing speech, language, and literacy monitoring of progress
Work alongside billing specialist to finalize authorizations needed for private/public insurance
Provide informal and/or formal speech, language, and auditory screening services
Provide high-quality intervention services to children and their families
Establish an effective system for communicating with parents, colleagues, and outside personnel regarding child’s/family’s progress
Work collaboratively, as appropriate, with other staff members, families, and outside resources to ensure exemplary services are provided for each child/family
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
Maintain client files and records
Ensure privacy under HIPAA compliance rules
Master’s degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association accredited program
Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Georgia state license in Speech-Language Pathology (or ability to obtain)
Commitment to ongoing professional development
Experience working with children and adults
Minimum of three years’ experience preferred
Certified LSLS AVT preferred
Ability to contract with Babies Can’t Wait
Bilingual skills preferred
Among the many programs at the Atlanta Speech School, children and adults with hearing loss and language processing difficulties are served. Therefore, the clarity and accuracy of an applicant’s speech and language may be part of the hiring decision as they relate to performing the essential functions of the position.
PRN rate is $55.00 an hour.
