What You’ll Do
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live safely and independently. You’ll:
- Assist in all aspects of daily living, social activities, and skill development.
- Provide personal care and mobility assistance when needed (up to 50 lbs).
- Support individuals in maintaining their homes and community involvement.
- Willingness to work in several locations throughout Sussex County.
- Implement individual care and behavior plans, following guidance from supervisors and nurses.
- Administer medications according to SCARC policy (training provided).
- Maintain documentation and records in compliance with agency and state requirements.
- Transport individuals to appointments and community activities (using agency vehicles).
- Participate in ongoing training and certifications including CPR, first aid, and crisis management.
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- Valid, non-provisional driver’s license with acceptable record (required).
- Prior experience with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred—but we provide full paid training.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist with transfers.
- Professionalism, reliability, and a genuine commitment to helping others.
