Linic is seeking an experienced Lead Technician – Heavy-Duty Truck & Trailer Maintenance to join our Fleet Maintenance team. This is a senior, hands-on technician role responsible for advanced diagnostics and repairs while providing day-to-day technical leadership and support to the technician team.
The Lead Technician will spend much of the workday diagnosing and repairing Class 8 tractors and trailers, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and supporting other technicians. The position also helps organize daily shop priorities, monitors repair progress, verifies repair quality and equipment readiness, and provides hands-on coaching to developing technicians.
We are looking for an experienced heavy-duty technician who wants to continue working directly on equipment while taking greater responsibility for technical leadership and shop execution.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, diesel, air, brake, suspension, HVAC, and related systems on Class 8 tractors and trailers.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, scheduled repairs, and unscheduled repairs.
- Use OEM diagnostic software, technical schematics, service information, and troubleshooting procedures to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Serve as the senior technical resource for the maintenance team and assist technicians with difficult diagnoses and repairs.
- Perform hands-on repairs as a primary responsibility of the position.
- Help organize and prioritize daily technician work based on equipment needs and operational priorities established with the Head of Fleet Maintenance.
- Monitor repair progress and identify issues affecting equipment availability or repair completion.
- Verify repair completion, workmanship, and equipment readiness before equipment is returned to service.
- Provide hands-on coaching, troubleshooting support, and technical guidance to other technicians.
- Reinforce safe work practices, repair standards, and accountability.
- Identify recurring equipment issues and opportunities to improve maintenance and repair practices.
- Complete work orders accurately, including labor, repair findings, work performed, and parts used.
- Verify required technician documentation and repair completion before work orders move to administrative closeout.
- Communicate parts requirements to the Maintenance Operations Coordinator.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive shop environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting capability.
- Experience working on Class 8 tractors and commercial trailers.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical and electronic systems, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC, and related heavy-duty vehicle systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance and DOT inspection requirements.
- Experience as a senior technician, lead technician, or technician who has provided technical guidance and mentoring to others.
- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, technical schematics, service bulletins, and diagnostic information.
- Experience with OEM diagnostic software such as PACCAR DAVIE, Volvo Tech Tool, Bendix, or equivalent.
- Experience with Fleetio or another fleet maintenance management system preferred.
- Diesel or heavy-duty maintenance certifications are preferred but not required.
- Ability to complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately in English.
