What You’ll Do
- Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiac and medical stepdown patients
- Titrate cardiac, insulin, and vasopressor drips, including medications like Esmolol, Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and more
- Manage patient treatments such as chest tubes, traches, central lines, and drains/tubes
- Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond to clinical changes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including CNAs, therapists, and physicians
- Use Meditech Expanse EMR system for documentation
- Support patient safety and comfort during overnight shifts
What You Need
- Valid Louisiana RN license and compliance with state requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or MedSurg RN experience with cardiac and medical stepdown patient exposure
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications; LVAD preferred (for 2W unit)
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
- Skilled in titrating cardiac and critical care medications, managing central lines, and handling complex patient cases
- Strong assessment and emergency response skills
About the Assignment
Join a diverse, traveler-friendly unit at a prominent healthcare provider offering medical and cardiac stepdown services. The unit features 24-25 beds with a patient ratio of 1:3-4, supported by a dedicated team and RT, phlebotomy, and support staff. The unit emphasizes quality care in a culture welcoming multiple travelers, with a focus on patient safety and team collaboration. Orientation includes hospital onboarding and 2 unit shifts, with rotation every other weekend. No call responsibilities, with work scheduled for 4 days one week and 3 days the next.
