Valerie Health is the AI front office for independent provider groups. We are reimagining how independent practices operate by using AI to modernize patient/provider communication, enhance care, and drive industry-changing operational efficiencies.
Why join us now?
Team: We are led by Pete Shalek (2x health tech exits, including a $600M acquisition by Optum) and Nitin Joshi (scaled Uber Eats + Health, Stripe Connect, and Bridge–acquired by Stripe for $1.1B). Beyond our founders, our team brings DNA from category leaders (Uber, Stripe, Meta), high-growth unicorns, and top consulting firms.
Trajectory: We partner with leading independent provider groups across the U.S., automating hundreds of thousands of tasks each month. Scaling at 7x year-over-year with 300% NRR as customers consistently expand usage.
Funding: We have raised $39m from world-class investors including Redpoint Ventures, General Catalyst, Primary Ventures, and BoxGroup.
As an Agent Operations Associate, you will own the deployment and production performance of Valerie’s document agents across a portfolio of customers.
This is a high-ownership generalist role at the intersection of operations, applied AI, data, and customer implementation. You will take ambiguous, business-critical workflows from discovery through launch, and remain accountable for how they perform in production.
You will develop a first-principles understanding of how clinical and administrative documents move through provider organizations: how they are received, interpreted, matched, routed, acted upon, and recorded. You will translate that operational reality into agent configurations, business rules, integrations, testing systems, and human-in-the-loop (HITL) paths.
The work moves between levels. On the same day, you might lead a customer workflow discussion, investigate performance using SQL, manually review failed cases, debug an integration with engineering, and decide whether a workflow is ready for greater automation.
This role is designed for ambitious early-career generalists who wants responsibility for outcomes rather than recommendations. You will gain unusual exposure to applied AI, healthcare operations, customers, and company-building, and help develop the operating systems Valerie needs to scale.
Own Implementations: Lead document-agent deployments from customer workflow discovery through configuration, testing, go-live, and post-launch performance.
Design and Improve Workflows: Translate complex customer processes into reliable automated workflows, including document intake, interpretation, routing, downstream actions, and exception handling.
Measure and Prioritize: Build reporting, analyze performance, and prioritize opportunities based on where human-in-the-loop work consumes the most time.
Increase Automation: Diagnose why tasks require human review and develop, test, and monitor improvements that safely move work toward automated completion.
Build the Playbook: Turn successful implementations and optimization approaches into repeatable processes, configurations, and testing methods that help the team scale.
We expect successful candidates to come from a range of backgrounds, including consulting, finance, analytics, technical implementation, product or business operations, and engineering-adjacent roles. Exceptional recent graduates with evidence of unusual ownership are also encouraged to apply.
You may be a strong fit if:
You learn unfamiliar systems unusually quickly
You combine analytical horsepower with practical judgment
You want to own implementation and results, not only produce recommendations
You are excited to become technically fluent in SQL, logs, APIs, and agent configuration
You move comfortably between high-level problem solving and detailed execution
You can communicate clearly with customers, operators, and engineers
You are willing to do manual work when it is the fastest way to understand and improve a system
You follow problems through to resolution, including after launch
We expect most candidates to have 0-3 years of experience, but learning velocity, achievement, and ownership matter more than a specific tenure range.
This role will not be a fit for someone who wants to remain exclusively at the strategy layer. Here, the analytical work and the detailed execution are inseparable.
