Duties
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with clinical procedures, including animal restraint and sample collection using aseptic techniques.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to aid in patient diagnosis.
- Maintain accurate records of patient histories, treatments, and laboratory results while ensuring compliance with veterinary standards.
- Conduct animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, grooming, pet care, and ensuring proper animal housing conditions.
- Animal restraint to facilitate smooth examinations and procedures.
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines, ensuring safety protocols are followed for both animals and staff.
- Assist in supporting critical care cases by monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing attentive animal care during recovery.
- Manage laboratory samples efficiently while maintaining cleanliness and adherence to safety standards.
- Housekeeping duties, including laundry, keeping all surfaces clean, receiving, logging, and stocking incoming products. Keeping the hospital property clean and organized.
Experience
- Proven veterinary assistant experience with a strong foundation in animal handling techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing processes and equipment operation is advantageous but not required, as you will be taught.
- Demonstrated ability to handle dogs confidently through training or handling experience.
