About the Position
Powered By Transformation is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) to provide peer recovery support across our FIT Recovery and Purple Barbell programs.
Our CRS helps participants strengthen recovery, build recovery capital, connect with community resources, and pursue healthier, more meaningful lives.
This is a grant-funded position. The CRS will have flexibility to establish their schedule based on program and participant needs. Work may occur on weekdays and/or weekends.
The position is hybrid and community-based, with some work taking place in Sellersville. Travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide non-clinical, person-centered peer recovery support using lived experience and recovery principles.
- Build supportive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Support participants in identifying strengths, setting goals, and working toward individualized recovery goals.
- Respect and support all pathways to recovery.
- Help participants identify and strengthen recovery capital, including relationships, employment, education, housing, community connections, and healthy recreation.
- Connect participants with treatment providers, recovery supports, healthcare, housing, employment, education, and other community resources.
- Support participant engagement, retention, and follow-up within FIT Recovery and Purple Barbell.
- Collaborate with FIT Trainers and other PByT staff to integrate peer support with physical wellness.
- Participate in appropriate fitness or wellness activities alongside participants when appropriate to the peer-support role.
- Assist with groups, workshops, outreach, community events, and program activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with program, grant, and organizational requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision, training, and professional development.
- Represent Powered By Transformation professionally within the community.
Qualifications (Required)
- Active Pennsylvania Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) certification. Candidates who are not yet certified must be actively pursuing certification and able to obtain certification within a required timeframe.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel as part of the position.
- Ability to pass required criminal background and child abuse clearances.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to complete electronic documentation.
- Commitment to person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented practices.
BONUS Qualifications
- Experience working in a gym, fitness, or wellness setting is a plus, but not required.
- Experience providing peer recovery support.
- Experience facilitating groups, workshops, or educational activities.
- Knowledge of local recovery and community resources.
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, or other recovery-oriented practices.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health challenges.
