Who we are
We are a medical testing facility that specializes in comprehensive cardiovascular and pulmonary medical evaluations for first responders throughout New Jersey. Our practice was built out of the Captain Buscio Program, a foundation created by Donna Buscio after her husband, Captain Dominick Buscio of the Jersey City Fire Department, unexpectedly passed away at 39 from a heart attack.
Our cardiovascular and pulmonary tests help current and retired members of the police force, state troopers, firefighters, and EMTs to be aware of their cardiovascular health and help to identify any health concerns. Employers do not mandate our tests and the results do not affect our patients' employment. Currently, we have five different locations across New Jersey and have hopes to open more soon.
What we do
We administer tests to evaluate heart and lung functionality. We offer seven different tests for our patients over a five-hour appointment time slot. Our patients can come back two weeks after their appointment to review their results with our board-certified medical professionals.
What we are looking for
As an Echocardiogram Technician, you will perform ultrasound examinations of the heart to assess its structure and function. You will prepare patients for procedures, operate echocardiography equipment, capture high-quality images of the heart, and assist in analyzing results. You will collaborate closely with physicians to provide essential information used in diagnosing and monitoring cardiac conditions. Your work plays a vital role in helping to ensure patients receive accurate assessments and appropriate cardiac care.
Responsibility
- Conduct transthoracic echocardiograms using ultrasound equipment to assess cardiac structure and function.
- Explain procedures to patients, ensure informed consent, and position them appropriately to obtain optimal imaging results.
- Calibrate and operate diagnostic ultrasound machines and transducers; perform routine equipment checks to ensure functionality and image quality.
- Capture and document still and moving images of the heart and related structures; analyze preliminary findings to assist interpreting cardiologists.
- Communicate relevant patient information and abnormal findings to cardiologists or supervising physicians to support clinical decision-making.
- Enter diagnostic data, patient demographics, and scan reports into electronic medical records (EMR) or PACS systems in a timely and accurate manner.
- Follow standard precautions and aseptic techniques, including proper cleaning and disinfection of equipment between patients.
- Ensure a calm, respectful, and compassionate approach to patient interaction, particularly with those who may be anxious or medically fragile.
- Additional clinical duties as needed.
Required:
- Associate’s degree or certificate from an accredited cardiac sonography program
- Registered Sonography license
- ARDMS Certification
- Microsoft and google office suite: 1 year (Preferred)
- High Levels of communication
Preferences:
- EMR systems: 2 years (Preferred)
- phlebotomy: 1 year (Preferred)
- Internal Medicine
- medical terminology: 1 year (Preferred)
- Spanish Speaking is a plus
- Medical records experience plus
- Setting up and maintaining ultrasound equipment
- Performing ultrasound examinations on patients
- Producing images resulting from the ultrasound examinations
- Interpreting ultrasound images to aid patient diagnosis

Pay: $35.00 - $44.00 per hour
