Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Manage complex clinical procedures such as IV infusions, catheterizations, suturing, ventilator management, and tube feeding with precision and care.
- Coordinate care plans through case management, discharge planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in settings like hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, diagnostic imaging review (e.g., sonography), and infection control protocols to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.
- Provide emergency response procedures such as airway management, acute pain management, trauma medicine, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and critical care interventions in Level I & II trauma centers or ICU settings.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation adhering to NCQA standards and ICD coding practices (ICD-9/10), ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for efficient medical records management.
- Extensive clinical experience in diverse specialties including emergency medicine, critical care (ICU), trauma medicine, cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (including Botox & dermal fillers), geriatrics (memory & dementia care), pediatrics (neonatal & toddler care), behavioral health, hospice & palliative medicine.
- Skilled in advanced procedures such as ostomy care, gastrostomy tube management, PICU experience, laboratory testing, phlebotomy/venipuncture techniques, sterile processing protocols and aseptic technique adherence.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to anatomy physiology; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/10) for accurate documentation; understanding of Workers' Compensation law for occupational health cases.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; providing specialized memory care or dementia support; managing acute pain or complex medication regimens including narcotics administration.
- Strong assessment skills for triage situations; capable of handling urgent care scenarios with professionalism and urgency; adept at patient education on health coaching and post-discharge instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as hospital emergency rooms or outpatient clinics while maintaining high standards of patient safety and confidentiality.
