Summary: The Senior Buyer/Materials Manager will provide an accessible, immediate, and cost-effective supply of materials which supports the timely manufacturing of the company’s products. This position will work closely with the Production Manufacturing Team responsible for planning, implementing, and controlling production, materials, manufacturing, and supplier relations for the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain and control the company’s inventory, materials and supply items at BMP and outside vendors:
o Responsible for stock control to meet schedules through a systematic approach of forecasting components to include, but not be limited to, all related steel, shop supplies, tooling, chrome plating, screw machine parts, shipping, welding supplies, machine repair parts, etc.
o Organize manufacturing materials in a systematic, accurate way that allows line personnel to locate in an efficient, timely manner.
o Maximize inventory turnover while maintaining customer service levels.
o Track the company’s inventory of in-house produced parts and provide assistance to the Production Manager in the production of those components.
· Assure the cost-effective access of purchased materials for the company.
o Establish a continuous review of material requirements through a system which forecasts needs.
o Select vendors and negotiate price to maximize BMP purchasing power
o Follow-ups, expedite and communicate to all appropriate personnel.
o Assist in checking the quality of raw materials into or out of the plant’s facility.
o Assist the Sales Department by providing costing information on new component parts.
o Advise the Sales Manager of any cost increases from vendors.
· Provide timely information to supervisors which assists in the carrying out production requirements.
· Assist the Production Coordinator in meeting production schedules for efficient operations without delays due to material shortages.
· Provide professional relationships with vendors, suppliers, and customers.
o Initiate surveys and plant visits of new and existing vendors regarding capabilities on quality, delivery, price, and capacity.
o Initiate periodic vendor contacts through phone and site visits.
o Review internally manufactured components under a make/buy scope to maximize production and cost opportunities by utilizing outsourcing where appropriate.
- Conduct, coordinate and supervise the completion of daily cycle counts and research discrepancies to resolution.
- Participate as a cooperative team member interacting and supporting a company atmosphere of productivity, belonging, cohesion, and trust.
- Active participation in the formal quote process to include, but not limited to, print review, component price review, labor calculations and the finalizing of formal pricing to be submitted by the sales department to the customer.

· Able to learn and operate the applicable software system used to create, process and monitor purchase orders, and to produce reports for analysis
Education, Training, Experience
- Four-year college degree in Supply Chain Management or related discipline
- 4+ years purchasing/inventory control experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Physical Demands
60% office environment, 40% manufacturing plant/visiting suppliers
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
