Summary:
The Human Resources & Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting all day-to-day human resources and payroll functions to ensure compliance, accuracy, and employee satisfaction. This role manages bi-weekly payroll processing, maintains employee records in HRIS systems, assists with benefits administration, onboarding, recruitment, employee engagement initiatives, leave management, and payroll reporting. The position serves as a key resource for employees and managers by providing guidance on payroll, benefits, and HR processes while fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Essential Functions
- Report all injury and property damage, accidents or incidents to the Safety Office, Lead and/or Human Resources as soon as possible after they occur
- Complete a satisfactory probationary 90 days period
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
- Must be able to work in a team environment by assisting others, as needed and maintaining a positive attitude
- Perform general duties such as typing and operating office machines.
- Update HR databases with new hire information, changes in employment status, and other relevant data
- Support GM in implementing employee engagement initiatives and programs.
- Keep track of benefits enrollments and premiums to be paid
- Assist with medical leaves and other applicable reasonable accommodation requests
- Assist with screening job applications and new hire interviews
- Conduct HR onboarding and ensure new hires are properly onboarded
- Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Log and track payroll-related items, including payroll corrections, PTO & PSL requests, and time clock adjustments.
- Process garnishments, work verifications and other payroll deductions.
- Assist in payroll analysis and reporting as needed.
- Review timecards and collaborate with department managers for approval.
- Respond to employee payroll-related inquiries and provide guidance.
- Assist with year-end reporting, including preparing and distributing W-2s, 1099s, and other payroll documentation.
- Partner with the Controller to address payroll-related tasks and projects.
- Support managers and other departments as requested.

Requirements, Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Basic mathematical skills required
- Excellent attention to detail
- Computer competency, including knowledge of Microsoft products(excel, word etc.) required
- Proficient in HRIS systems, including ADP Workforce Now, with experience in payroll, benefits, timekeeping, employee records management, and reporting preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
- Any combination equivalent to sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the above-mentioned knowledge and abilities.
Schedule
The standard schedule for the HR Admin is Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm. However, when the need arises employee may be required to do overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
Work Environment
- This position requires work in a typical farm environment and includes conditions such as the following: cold, heat, wet, humid, odors, dust, trip hazards, sharp objects, and heavy objects.
