Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese-inspired dishes with precision and artistry
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in all kitchen areas
- Select fresh ingredients and ensure proper storage to preserve quality and freshness
- Develop innovative sushi recipes and presentation techniques to enhance menu offerings
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate service times and manage workflow efficiently
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to ensure seamless operations
- Educate team members on sushi techniques, presentation, and ingredient handling when needed
Skills
- Extensive culinary experience with a focus on sushi preparation and Japanese cuisine
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of traditional sushi techniques
- Ability to develop new recipes and creatively present dishes that wow guests
- Excellent classroom management skills for training junior staff or apprentices in sushi making
- Experience working with diverse teams in high-energy kitchen environments
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and ingredient sourcing
