Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This position reports directly to the Controller and will play a key role in the ownership of the monthly close process, financial reporting, and cost analysis within a manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger experience, a solid understanding of cost accounting, and the ability to analyze financial results and variances. This role requires someone who takes ownership of their work, maintains accurate documentation, and ensures financial information is audit-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Own assigned areas of the month-end close process, including preparing and posting journal entries.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and own the preparation of portions of the monthly management reporting package, including financial analysis and variance explanations.
- Perform cost accounting analysis, including review of manufacturing costs and production-related expenses.
- Analyze budget-to-actual and month-to-month variances and provide explanations to management.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
- Ensure all entries are properly supported with documentation and audit-ready.
- Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Support external audit requests by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, and financial visibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3–6 years of accounting experience
- Experience with owning portions of the month-end close
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting
- Experience with cost accounting and variance analysis
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to analyze financial data and explain financial variances
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

- Manufacturing industry experience
- Experience preparing management reporting packages
- ERP system experience
- Experience supporting external audits

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
