Exclusion Technician – Carpentry & Rodent Exclusion

The Role
This is a hands-on, build-it-and-seal-it job for someone who's good with tools and likes solving problems with their hands. The core of the work is exclusion — finding how rodents and wildlife get into a structure and physically keeping them out. That means carpentry, minor construction, and repair work: cutting and fitting materials, sealing entry points, installing barriers and covers, working in crawl spaces and attics, and leaving a structure tighter than you found it.
If you can frame, trim, patch, seal, and problem-solve around a building's weak points, you already have the hardest-to-teach skills for this job. We'll train you on the pest control side. Over time you'll also handle pest control service work alongside the exclusion work, and we'll support you in getting licensed. Company truck will be provided.
What You'll Do
Exclusion & carpentry (the main work):
- Inspect homes and commercial buildings to find rodent and wildlife entry points
- Seal, screen, and close off entry points using carpentry and minor construction techniques
- Install bath trap covers, vent screens, barriers, and other exclusion materials
- Cut or bore into structures to access infested or vulnerable areas, then repair and close them properly
- Make minor structural repairs related to pest damage
- Set mechanical traps and bait where needed; remove trapped or dead animals
- Measure areas, estimate materials, and work cleanly and professionally on-site
Pest control (we'll train you):
- Identify common pests — rats, termites, ants, spiders, wasps, mosquitoes, bed bugs
- Mix and apply chemical solutions, powders, and granules safely
- Follow all label instructions, safety procedures, and reentry rules
- Use protective gear and equipment correctly
On every job:
- Build positive relationships with clients and work to exceed their expectations
- Explain problems and recommendations to clients face-to-face when possible
- Check in with the client contact before and after service
- Keep your service vehicle organized, clean, professional, and stocked
- Maintain a clean uniform and professional appearance
- Manage your schedule and route, and respond quickly to client needs
What You Bring
- Carpentry, construction, or skilled trades experience — this is the core requirement
- Comfort working with tools and equipment, and the ability to work from sketches, drawings, or plans
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and do basic math to estimate materials and time
- Willingness to learn the pest control side and obtain a North Carolina pest control applicator license (we'll support you — license a plus but not required to start)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, crawl through attics, use a ladder to access roofs, and inspect crawl spaces
- Enjoyment of working with people, animals, technology, and the outdoors
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- A clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check
- Documentation of ability to work in the United States
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and evenings
Pest control experience is a plus but not required — if you've got the carpentry and exclusion skills, we'll train you on the rest.
Pay: $60,000.00 per year
