The Roll Form Team oversees daily production activities within the Roll Form department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing of metal components used in residential and commercial garage door products. This role combines advanced technical expertise in roll forming operations with frontline leadership responsibilities, guiding and supporting team members through setup, operation, troubleshooting, changeovers, and continuous improvement activities.
This role assists helps coordinate daily production schedules, assigns work, monitors performance and quality metrics, and takes measures to ensure roll forming equipment operates at optimal efficiency. This position serves as the primary liaison between production employees and management, communicating priorities, resolving shop floor issues, and promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Shift: Monday - Thursday; 7am - 5:30pm
Team Leadership & Daily Operations
- Lead, assign, and coordinate daily activities of Roll Form team members to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations.
- Monitor production schedules and workflow to ensure customer orders and production targets are achieved on time.
- Provide hands-on support with machine setup, troubleshooting, product changeovers, and production challenges as needed.
- Communicate daily priorities, production goals, quality expectations, and performance standards to team members.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and issue resolution on the production floor.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment through active leadership and engagement.
- Assist with labor planning, staffing adjustments, and workload balancing to meet operational demands.
Roll Form Production & Equipment Management
- Oversee setup, operation, and optimization of roll forming lines, ensuring proper mill gapping, guide alignment, feeder adjustments, and speed calibration.
- Ensure steel coils, raw materials, and tooling are staged and available to support uninterrupted production flow.
- Verify that equipment settings, tooling configurations, and production processes meet engineering specifications and customer requirements.
- Interpret and apply part prints, tooling drawings, work orders, and production specifications to ensure accurate product manufacturing.
- Monitor machine performance and product quality, making adjustments as necessary to maintain efficiency and consistency.
- Coordinate and support product changeovers while minimizing downtime and maintaining production schedules.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and coordinate repair activities with Maintenance and Engineering teams.
- Inspect tooling, roll stands, guides, and equipment components for wear or damage and report issues requiring maintenance or replacement.
- Oversee the safe operation of un-coilers, straighteners, feeders, lubrication systems, presses, conveyors, mills, and related production equipment.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies, manufacturing procedures, and departmental standards.
- Promote safe work practices, including proper machine guarding, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE usage, and material handling techniques.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety requirements.
- Conduct routine audits of work areas to identify and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Verify product quality through inspections, measurements, and adherence to technical specifications.
- Ensure non-conforming materials and products are properly identified, documented, and addressed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready production environment through established housekeeping and 5S standards.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor team productivity, machine utilization, scrap rates, downtime, and quality metrics to support department goals.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support to improve individual and team effectiveness.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and cross-training of new and existing employees.
- Identify opportunities to improve roll forming processes, reduce waste, increase throughput, and enhance product quality.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to implement process improvements and corrective actions.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain production records, performance data, and operational reports as required.
General Responsibilities
- Operate hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, cranes, and material handling equipment as required.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance, engineering, quality, inventory, and shipping personnel.
- Support inventory accuracy through proper material usage, documentation, and reporting.
- Assist with special projects, process evaluations, and operational initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in roll forming, metal fabrication, or a related production environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Continuous learner with a focus on personal development and adaptability.
- Willingness to be visible on the shop floor and engage with team members daily.

- Basic computer skills, including experience using production reporting systems, tablets, scanners, or manufacturing software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) or more years of roll forming experience.
- Experience leading, training, mentoring, or coordinating production teams.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience working in metal fabrication, steel processing, or garage door manufacturing environments.
- Forklift, crane, or other industrial equipment certifications.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 45 lbs. unassisted with or without reasonable accommodation, continuously and frequently overhead. Lifting of more than 45 lbs. requires team lifting of at least 2 people.
- Continuously and/or frequently required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects ranging from 45 lbs. to 80 lbs. Weights over 45 lbs. require teamwork of at least 2 people.
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time (8-12 hours daily).
- Must be able to move about the manufacturing floor safely and efficiently.
- Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and/or ladders may be required for specific work tasks.
- Ability to perform tasks that require using hands, wrists, and fingers.
- Ability to work in loud, fast paced industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination with hand/power tools.
- Occasionally work in tight and confined spaces, use of ladders, and work in high spaces.
- Frequent use of computer, keyboard, tablet, and/or scanner may be required for specific work tasks.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.
