Industry: Manufacturing
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite
Overview
We are representing a growing manufacturing company seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations while serving as a key member of the leadership team.
This is a highly operational finance role where you'll partner closely with plant leadership to improve profitability, inventory accuracy, manufacturing performance, and financial visibility. The successful candidate will spend significant time on the production floor, translating financial data into actionable operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting, finance, and financial reporting activities
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and management reports
- Own manufacturing cost accounting, standard costing, inventory valuation, WIP, and variance analysis
- Analyze labor, material, overhead, scrap, yield, productivity, and manufacturing KPIs
- Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and cash flow planning
- Oversee capital project financial analysis and fixed asset accounting
- Manage ERP reporting, financial controls, and continuous process improvements
- Partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, purchasing, quality, and sales to improve business performance
- Lead inventory controls, cycle counts, and physical inventory programs
- Develop accounting staff and strengthen financial processes across the organization
What They Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- 3+ years in manufacturing finance, plant accounting, or cost accounting
- Strong experience with standard costing, inventory, WIP, budgeting, forecasting, and manufacturing financial analysis
- ERP system experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and business partnering abilities
Preferred Experience
- CPA and/or CMA certification
- Manufacturing experience in foundry, metal casting, machining, forging, steel, iron, aluminum, or other heavy industrial environments
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma exposure
- Multi-site manufacturing experience
- Experience supporting privately held or owner-operated businesses
What They Actually Need
They're looking for an operational Controller—not simply a financial reporter. The ideal candidate enjoys walking the plant, understanding manufacturing processes, challenging assumptions, and helping operations make better decisions through financial analysis. This person will be viewed as a business partner to the President and plant leadership, driving improvements in cost, inventory, cash flow, and operational performance while helping build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
