About Us
Blue Box Music is a husband and wife run music lesson studio located in Los Alamitos, CA. We provide top-quality guitar, piano, drums, bass, ukulele, singing & songwriting lessons to a wide age range of students, starting from 4 years old and up. Blue Box Music is an educational space for creative individuals of all ages and levels to come and learn, hone in on their skills, become disciplined in their practice, step outside of their comfort zones in collaboration with others, and find ways to make their own creative mark on the world. Students of Blue Box receive instruction and mentorship from full-time active musicians, who bring real-world knowledge of what it takes to play music professionally.

Blue Box Music is seeking a passionate and dedicated After-School guitar, bass & drum teacher to join our team. As an instructor for Blue Box Music, you will have the opportunity to inspire and educate students of various ages and skill levels, help them develop their musical abilities, and achieve their goals. The ideal candidate will have experience with teaching guitar, bass & drums; have high student retention, and be local to the area (Los Alamitos, Long Beach, Seal Beach, etc). If you are enthusiastic about music education and enjoy working with students, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guitar, bass & drum lessons to students of various ages and skill levels.
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans based on students' goals and abilities.
- Teach proper technique, music theory, fundamentals, and sight-reading.
- Select appropriate repertoire for students to practice and perform.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Prepare students for recitals, competitions, auditions, performances, etc.
- Communicate effectively with parents and provide homework assignments.
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Experience:
- Previous experience working with students of all ages 4-60(+)
- Strong knowledge of guitar, bass & drum teaching methods.
- Ability to adapt teaching style to meet the needs of individual students.
- Experience in lesson planning.
- Comfortable teaching different genres. From classical, blues, jazz, pop, rock etc.
Possible Hours:
- 4 to 12 per week (will grow with time)
-Weekdays, After-School hours (2pm-8pm)
-Saturdays, mornings + afternoons
Please note that this position may require some weekend availability for recitals or special events.
