JOB The Part-Time Cheer Coach provides leadership for Whitworth University's cheerleading program by coaching and developing student-athletes, planning practices, choreographing routines, and preparing the team for athletic events and campus appearances. The coach recruits prospective student-athletes, builds team culture, and creates a positive, Christ-centered experience that supports the University's educational mission. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Coach and Develop Student-Athletes | 80%

Lead 2 to 3 practices each week during the academic year.

Teach proper cheerleading techniques, stunts, safety practices, and game-day performance skills.

Design and choreograph cheers, routines, formations, and sideline performances.

Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, accountability, and leadership among student-athletes.

Evaluate athlete performance and provide ongoing instruction and feedback.
Lead Game Day and Special Events | 10%

Coach and supervise the team during home football and basketball games and selected postseason events.

Coordinate performances and appearances throughout the academic year.

Represent Whitworth Athletics at campus and community events. Events include Pirates Night, the St. Patrick's Day Parade, and the Golf Classic.
Secondary Responsibilities | 10%

Recruit prospective student-athletes.

Assist with fundraising and promotional activities.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Position Details
Season: August 1 through April 30
Part-time Commitment: Approximately 540 hours during the academic year (averaging 15 hours per week, with hours varying weekly based on practices, competitions, games, recruiting, and team events).
Compensation: $15,000 seasonal stipend paid in equal monthly installments.
Benefits: This is a part-time seasonal position and is not eligible for University benefits.
