Overview:
The Infection Preventionist (IP) participates in implementing the Infection Control Plan under the direction of the Manager and Director of Infection Prevention and Control and Hospital Epidemiologist. The IP works to prevent, identify, monitor, and, control the spread of, infection. The IP participates in surveillance, data collection and analysis, data presentation, improvement teams, policy review, and staff education across the organization.
Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree. Specific course work: Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field -OR- a Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or Healthcare Administration.

1. Customer Service -this position will respond to multiple requests from leaders within the organization as well as from outside entities. Must be able to respond quickly and graciously to requests for information and standards interpretation. Responses are often required in presentation format.
2. Interpersonal skills - this position will respond effectively to inquiries and produce unbiased analysis of controversial or complex topics. Strong communication skills are required.
3. Communication Skills - must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing in a manner that resonates with all levels of the organization.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality - this position will have access to high level, sensitive, confidential, data. Must be able to maintain this data in a confidential manner.
5. Organizational Skills - must be highly skilled in managing multiple priorities and project management.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

Required Licensure/Certifications: Certified in Infection Control (CIC) within three (3) years of hire or transfer and effective 2/16/26 certification must be maintained. Required Experience: 1-2 years of healthcare experience
Preferred Experience: Previous infection prevention and control experience. Acute care experience in a clinical role. Experience with electronic surveillance systems. Experience in Public Health with an emphasis in epidemiology.
