Grand Trunk Pub is seeking an experienced, energetic, and hospitality-driven Front of House Manager to lead our service team in the heart of downtown Detroit.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing all front-of-house operations, ensuring exceptional guest experience, coaching and developing staff, managing labor and inventory, and supporting the overall success of the restaurant.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who enjoys working on the floor, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Lead all front-of-house operations, including the dining room, bar, hosts, and support staff.
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences and resolve guest concerns promptly.
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop front-of-house team members.
- Create staff schedules and manage labor to meet business goals.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities.
- Oversee food, beverage, and alcohol service while ensuring compliance with company standards and Michigan liquor laws.
- Manage beverage ordering, weekly inventory, and front-of-house supplies.
- Monitor cash handling, deposits, discounts, comps, and daily financial controls.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization throughout guest-facing areas.
- Support private events, promotions, and initiatives that drive sales and guest engagement.
- Collaborate with the kitchen and leadership team to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Lead by example while fostering a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant management experience required; full-service restaurant experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest service.
- Experience with scheduling, labor management, inventory, and cash handling.
- Knowledge of food, beverage, and responsible alcohol service.
- ServSafe® Alcohol or TIPS® Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
