Position Summary
The HR Coordinator is responsible for supporting and enhancing the overall employee experience through culture initiatives, employee engagement programs, internal communications, hiring processes, onboarding support, and HR coordination activities. This role plays a key part in fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace environment while supporting organizational goals and employee satisfaction. The HR Coordinator will also act as backup support for the HR Generalist.
The ideal candidate is organized, creative, people-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This exempt position requires professionalism, initiative, discretion, and the ability to work independently while supporting employees across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
HR Coordination & Administrative Support
- Maintain employee records and HR documentation within HRIS systems
- Support recruiting coordination including job posting, resume review, interview scheduling and candidate communication
- Assist with training coordination, compliance tracking, and reporting
- Troubleshoot system issues and drive process improvements leveraging HRIS functionality
- Provide administrative support for HR initiatives and department projects
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Coordinate and execute employee engagement initiatives and company culture programs
- Plan workplace engagement activities such as employee appreciation events, wellness activities, volunteer opportunities, team-building initiatives, and company celebrations
- Manage employee recognition programs, milestone acknowledgments, and service anniversary communications
- Support initiatives that strengthen employee morale, retention, and workplace satisfaction
- Assist with employee feedback programs, surveys, and engagement reporting
Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Coordinate onboarding activities and new hire orientation processes
- Prepare onboarding materials and ensure a positive new hire experience
- Assist managers with employee integration and engagement during onboarding
- Promote a consistent and compliant approach to employee relations across union and non-union populations
- Support employee offboarding and exit interview coordination
Internal Communications & Employee Support
- Assist leadership with communication of organizational updates and initiatives
- Support employer branding efforts and company culture messaging
- Maintain internal communication boards, platforms, and engagement materials
- Develop creative content that promotes company culture and employee involvement
- Serve as a visible and approachable HR presence for employees throughout the organization
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in HR, employee engagement, recruiting, office administration, or related field preferred
- Experience supporting employee events, communications, or culture initiatives strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Creative mindset with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently
- Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Canva, HRIS, or ADP experience preferred
- Strong customer service orientation and positive attitude

Pay: $55,000.00 per year
