Job Summary:
Perform quality control and food safety checks and verifications to assure quality and safety of products

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist daily pre-operational sanitation inspections. Report all deficiencies to a food safety specialist.
Assist with setting up of sanitizers, spread Quaternary powder, and roll out employee frocks.
Perform pre-operational quality control checks and calibrations (metal detections, oxygen levels, scales, soaps and sanitizers).
Hourly perform quality control checks of all production stations and packaging lines and document.
Perform food safety checks a minimum of three times a day - metal detection, sanitizers, and detergents.
Immediately report problems or deficiencies in quality or related processes to QA leader.
Assist in the inspection of production workers to make sure USDA, FDA, HACCP, and GMP guidelines are being followed on the production floor.
Gather samples of processed products and perform pH and product quality testing, logging results into the data base and quality control forms.
Gather, log and store daily production retention samples.
Perform allergen control validation and documentation as needed during product changeovers.
Actively participate in all food safety and quality control meetings and projects.
Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Report all safety hazards to management so that corrective action can be taken immediately.
Good attendance and reporting to work on-time is required to do this job satisfactorily.

Education and Experience:
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
1 plus years of experience in Food Quality
Competent with Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to read, write and process all instructions. Ability to verbally communicate effectively with others.
Knowledge of USDA and FDA rules and regulations. Prior food experience is needed. Bilingual is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Able to work in a usual lab environment and in a cool production room where the temperature is about 45 degrees with strong smells like vinegar.
Frequent periods of standing, walking, squatting, sitting, reaching etc.
