About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Care Assistant Director to support the Director in leading the daily operations, staff, and educational programming of our center. This role is ideal for a positive, strong leader who thrives in a hands-on environment and is ready to step into greater responsibility while ensuring high-quality care and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in overseeing center operations, including staffing, scheduling, enrollment, and facility management
· Support full compliance with state licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and quality improvement initiatives
· Help lead, mentor, and evaluate teaching staff; promote a positive and collaborative team culture
· Collaborate on curriculum development and implementation of age-appropriate programs
· Serve as Acting Director in the Director’s absence and handle day-to-day decision-making as needed
· Build and maintain strong relationships with families through communication, conferences, and engagement activities
· Assist with budgeting, purchasing, inventory, and resource management
· Support incident reporting, emergency preparedness, and staff training
· Contribute to continuous quality improvement and accreditation efforts
Required Qualifications
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a CDA
· Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in child care or early education settings, including some supervisory or lead teacher experience
· Knowledge of state child care licensing regulations and early childhood best practices
· Strong leadership, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and support a child-centered environment
· CPR/First Aid certification and any required state credentials (or ability to obtain them promptly)
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous experience as a Lead Teacher, Supervisor, or Assistant Director
· Familiarity with quality rating systems (QRIS) or accreditation processes
· Experience working with diverse families and multi-age classrooms
